For homework due Wednesday please finish the back of the worksheet that we did in class today.
You need to clearly label the volumes you calculated for each shape.
Here's the answer:
V(cone): 1959.36
V(cylinder): 5425.92
V(hemisphere): 133.97
V(Pyramid): 147
Total volume of Building:
(V(cylinder) + V(cone)) - (V(pyramid) + V(hemisphere))
7385.28 - 280.97 = 7104.31 ft.^3

Review Problem Answers
- Problem 21 on page 45
<a = 60 deg.
<b = 120 deg.
<d = 60 deg.
<e = 60 deg.
<f = 120 deg.
<g = 120 deg.
<h = 60 deg.
- Problem 29 on page 47
a. A third of a right angle is a third of 90 deg. which = 30 deg.
b. Two times a quarter rotation is two times 90 deg. = 180 deg.
c. Two and a third times a quarter is 180 deg. plus 30 deg. which = 210 deg.
- Problem 35 on page 48
a. 1/6 of 60 min is 10 min
b. 1/6 of 30 min is 5 min
c. 5 min is 1/12 of an hour
d. The minute hand has moved through 1/12 of a complete rotation, 1/12 of 360 deg. = 30 deg.
-Problem 14 on page 65
a. 72 deg. x 5 = 360 deg.
b. If he turns around a regular hexagon, he will go 60 deg. x 6 = 360 deg.
For an octagon, he would go 45 deg. x 8 = 360 deg.
No matter which polygon shape the garden is, he will make a complete 360 deg. turn because he will arrive back at the same vertex facing the same direction from where he started.
- Problem 8 on page 76
The two 3-foot poles and the 5-foot poles will make a tent, but it will be a low tent. The two 3-foot poles and the 6-foot pole, and the two 3-foot poles and the 7-foot pole will not make a tent, because the sum of any two sides is not greater than their third side.
Test on Monday!
Please due problems 1-5 on page 76 and problems 9-13 on page 77
We will have a test on Shapes and Designs on Monday. Please make sure you come to math on Monday ready to ask any questions about what we've covered in this short unit.
We covered the following chapters:
2.3 Using an Angle Ruler
2.4 Analyzing Measurement Errors
2.5 Angles and Parallel Lines
3.1 Angle Sums of Regular Polygons
3.2 Angle Sums of ANY polygon
4.1 Building Triangles
4.2 Building Quadrilaterals.
Here's some review questions that can be found in your text book. I'll post the answers in the next post

Homework due Wednesday
Please do problems 15, 16, 17, and 20. They start on page 43.
If you are LEO, VIOLET, DUNCAN, or SOLAURA please stop in and see Corbin on Tuesday to get an angle ruler.
Refer to page 34 in your textbook to review how to use the angle ruler.
There will be a sub on Wednesday because I will be at a math conference. good times
I will see you Monday!
